District Institute of the Arts – Idartes

Idartes is an entity attached to the Secretary of Culture, Recreation and Sports of the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, created with the purpose of executing public policies, projects, plans and programs to guarantee the full exercise of cultural rights of citizens through the formation, creation, circulation and appropriation of arts and culture.

The most emblematic cultural facilities and equipment in the city, as well as the festivals, stages, works, laboratories, workshops, conferences, interventions, grants, projections and everything related to art, are part of the day to day of Idartes.

Idartes International, a window to the world

In 2020, the District Institute of the Arts – Idartes, established its Idartes International project, a window to the world to promote the art and culture of Bogotá in other scenarios at a global level, as well as to circulate experiences, knowledge and proposals from other countries. 

The entity is therefore, an open window to a universe of talents encompassing all artistic expressions and the cultural wealth of an entire country.

Idartes International It is a tool for the generation of new alliances, synergies, cooperation networks and work schemes prioritizing the circulation of artists and promoting the exchange of knowledge and information.

Through international management, Idartes generates opportunities for art and culture by amplifying and making visible local talent in relevant international scenarios, contributing to the development of the creative capacities of the capital, the construction of the social fabric and a more extensive diffusion of the Colombian culture.

Internationalization Components

  • Training

It includes educational practices to strengthen the artistic and cultural ecosystem agents’ capacities and skills for sustainability, closing gaps and social innovation.

  • Circulation

It implements strategies for the circulation’s reactivation, decentralization and diversification, through local, night, and community, circuits, multifunctional spaces, cultural facilities and activities in public space.

  • Articulation

It promotes the articulation for development in artistic and cultural territories through network promotion, organizational strengthening and collaborative work in community environments for the sustainability and artistic ecosystem reactivation.

  • Knowledge management

Identifies, diagnoses, and characterizes the artistic ecosystem dynamics, sustainable practices, collaborative networks, agent mapping, local circuits, and community settings.
