From June 14 to 18, the Instituto Distrital de las Artes - Idartes will take another step towards its internationalization and positioning, actively participating in Global Toronto, considered one of the most outstanding music and sustainability conferences in the world.

This year the Global Toronto - GT21 initiative will be a platform to showcase music and a conference space to reimagine and build a more accessible, equitable and sustainable music sector. It will also promote musicians who have been underrepresented or marginalized, building bridges towards multidimensional sustainability. This conference is organized by Small World Music, a Canadian organization with more than two decades supporting cultural diversity and the visibility of national and international artists in Toronto.

In this context and as a prelude to the participation of Catalina Valencia, director of Idartes, and Salome Olarte, Music Manager, on May 18 the deputy director of Cultural Facilities, Mauricio Galeano, intervened as a guest at the Sustainable Places Forum, which was managed within the framework of Global Toronto together with Folk Music Ontario and Music Declares Emergency. During this day, Idartes addressed the issue of the sustainability of cultural stages, its implementation and scope, as well as the environmental transformation that seeks to generate knowledge exchange spaces such as breathe art annual forums.

These spaces open the door to generate collaborative ideas with entities having already worked, and are currently working, on issues related to sustainability.

This is not the first time Idartes has participated in an event of these characteristics. Earlier this year, the entity participated in the congress Imagine the Arts by the International Society for the Performing Arts – ISPA, where more than 15 meetings were held with organizations from different countries in Latin America, North America and Europe to formalize possible alliances, resources and cooperation agendas that will benefit the Bogotá cultural sector.
