As a result of the participation of the Instituto Distrital de las Artes – Idartes in the Imagine the Arts congress of the International Society for the Performing Arts – ISPA In January, the entity continues to position itself on international stages and platforms.
After a series of conversations with Latin American Cultural Connections – CCLA, contact established during this event, Idartes was appointed as partner of the Sonic Connection Festival, which will be held virtually from September 20 to September 26.
The organization was the winner of the Ibermusicas call, where this festival will be developed that will help discover music fusing Latin American cultural heritage with contemporary expressions. The event seeks to highlight the richness of traditional instruments of the continent, particularly those of indigenous communities, and merging temporalities and historical periods to encourage intergenerational cultural dialogues.
This will be the first edition of the festival. Seven documentary-concerts will be premiered that will include live concerts and interviews with groups such as Radio Cutipa from Bolivia, Pedro Martínez and Sixto Corbalan from Paraguay, La Tribu from Panama, Rombos from Costa Rica, Entrama from Chile and, finally, Phonoclorica and Numano Suto will participate from Colombia.
This festival highlights the importance of taking into account the historical and cultural Latin American legacy, as well as recognizing the diversity of its communities through its musical expressions.
CCLA is a collaborative work network founded in 2020 connecting professionals from the music industry in the region. It is made up of programmers of festivals and scenic spaces, as well as artistic representation agencies and producers of musical events from 11 countries. Its objectives are to create spaces for dialogue allowing the strengthening of professional ties, the promotion of artistic mobility in the region, the multiplication of business opportunities and the professional development promotion in the sector through the exchange of good practices and the creation of collaborative projects.
This management was carried out thanks to the project Idartes International, a window to the world and the support of the Department of International Relations of the Bogotá Mayor’s Office.
