This year, the Instituto Distrital de las Artes – Idartes began a strong collaboration with the Russian Embassy in Colombia to further enhance the cultural offer of citizens in the capital. Together with the embassy team, institute stages such as the Cinematheque of Bogotá, the Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Theater and the Planetarium of Bogotá, they have carried out artistic activities for the interests of several audiences.
Together with the cultural attaché, cinematographic, historical and scientific topics have been explored and the collaboration scope is sought to be broadened.
On April 12, a day recognized worldwide as Yuri’s Night, this alliance began with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the arrival of humanity in space. During the Colombian Festival of Digital Astronomy II, organized by the Office for the Dissemination of Astronomy in Colombia – OAO and the Russian Embassy, the Planetarium of Bogotá broadcast a conference by Fyodor Yurchikhin, president of the Russian Center for Cosmonautics and Aviation. Here, the Russian cosmonaut answered some of the questions sent by the Colombian children.
“We have maintained a fruitful cooperation with Idartes this year. Several events have been held with different entities making up part of this institution. Among them, the activities dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space stand out. We had a photographic exhibition about the cosmonaut in the Planetarium of Bogotá facilities as part of the Digital Festival of Astronomy II and we participated in the Night Planetarium in April. Likewise, we have also contributed to the Cinematheque and Planetarium project with the Science Fiction Slot: other worlds, which has Russian movies about space” says the Russian Embassy.
On June 17, this movie series was inaugurated at the Cinematheque of Bogotá. Until December, the stages will screen a movie selection and film appreciation activities talks and a story creation workshop will be carried out. Finally, from June 21 to 25, the Russian and Soviet film series about the war, where five films will be screen and three talks will be held at the Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Cultural Center. These projections will be made on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the start of the World War II. From the Embassy they explain that “the Brest Fortress movie projection has been organized on the occasion of the commemoration of the Great Patriotic War beginning of USSR against Nazism, as well as the Russian people Memory and Pain Day, on June 22nd.
This alliance is part of the efforts of the Idartes International, a window to the world project, whose purpose is to generate synergies and cooperation networks with organizations and institutions worldwide.
“The contacts we have maintained with Idartes have been very benevolent and in the spirit of friendly cooperation. It has been a pleasure to carry out these projects with them. The Embassy is very grateful for the contribution of the Colombian side and is willing to develop these links in the future as well”, clarifies the Russian government representatives in the country.
