The RealMix 0.1 Festival It will be a virtual event the Instituto Distrital de las Artes – Idartes will perform through Planetarium of Bogotá and its Strategic Line of Art, Science and Technology, with the aim of recognizing and promoting technological creation and experimentation through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) projects. This time it will be taking place together with the exhibition Art on the Staircase from Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
This version, which will take place from July 2 to July 31, will feature a sample of projects by the winning artists of the 2020 Latin American RealMix Award, and with the winners of the Arte no Escadão creation grant – Art on the Stairs, in charge of Brazil.
Arte no Escadão is a project carried out through the Municipal Law of Incentives for Culture of the City of Belo Horizonte and the Aldir Blanc State Law of Minas Gerais granting five incentives through the creation grant aimed at artists of any nationality, residents in Brazil.
This is an important space for the Pampulha region in the city of Belo Horizonte, as it is a staircase that since 2013 joins Otacílio Negrão de Lima Avenue and Portugal Avenue, which until that year were disconnected.
As in the last edition, the festival will be held virtually through its website and through the Mozilla Hubs platform, where the participants will be able to get to know the Escadão directly, as well as tour the Planetarium of Bogotá in an immersive way, both modeled in 3D.
“It is a joint effort in order to exhibit the Arte no Escadão exhibition virtually together with the RealMix Festival. It is a space of great international projection in order to promote a discussion on virtual and urban spaces, and advance in the purpose of democratizing and expanding access to visual art works by emerging artists from Belo Horizonte and Bogotá”, says Andres Garcia La Rota, leader of the Idartes Art, Science and Technology Line.
In these two virtual spaces, visitors will have free access for a month to the result show of the 2020 Latin American RealMix Award five winners, as well as those emerging artists who have won the Belo Horizonte call.
“The 2020 Latin American Realmix Award sought to recognize creators, filmmakers, and groups from the continent through five incentives of 15 million Colombian pesos each for works or projects of artistic and interdisciplinary creation, made in AR/VR for mobile platforms”, Garcia La Rota added.
